View your app's ID and manage its name, logo, genre, description, links and notes

Written by Jason Liang

The App > Design > Core App Info > App Details page holds general information about your app: its ID, name, logo, genre and description. It also has Links and Notes sections where you can keep project notes, important instructions and useful URLs in one place for your whole team.

App ID, Name and Logo

  • App ID: your app's unique identifier on brainCloud. It is used when connecting your client to brainCloud and cannot be changed.

  • App Name (required, up to 50 characters): the name shown for your app in the portal. Your players do not see it, so you can use names such as "MyApp [Dev]" and "MyApp [Live]" to tell your development and production apps apart.

  • App logo: click the image area to upload a logo for your app, or to remove the current one. The logo is only used to identify your app in the portal. Logo changes are saved immediately.

Genre and Description

  • Genre: select the genre that best describes your app.

  • Description: a short description of your app, up to 2000 characters. A counter below the field shows how many characters you have used.

Links

Use Links to keep useful URLs with your app, such as your project tracker, design documents, store pages or dashboards.

  • Click Add Link to add a row, then enter a Label and a URL. Both are required, the URL must be valid (for example https://...), and each label must be unique.

  • Click Visit URL to open a link in your browser.

  • Click the remove icon to delete a link. You are asked to confirm before a link with a valid URL is removed.

Notes

Use Notes for project notes or critical instructions that everyone working on the app should see, up to 2000 characters.

Saving Changes

Click Save to save your changes to the name, genre, description, links and notes, or Discard to undo them. Save is only available when there are changes and all fields are valid.

Settings That Have Moved

Some settings that used to be on this page now have their own pages:

  • App Secret: now on App > Design > Core App Info > App Secret, where you can rotate the secret and manage retired secrets.

  • Platform integrations: now on App > Design > Integrations > Platforms.

  • Show Game Design Features: now on App > Design > Core App Info > Advanced Settings.

Links to the App Secret and Platforms pages are also shown at the bottom of the App Details page.

Permissions

Write access to this page is required to change any of these details. Users with read-only access can view the page, but the fields are disabled.
